Drone on tarmacThe Religious Community and Drone Warfare

The film The Religious Community and Drone Warfare is for congregations who wish to go into more depth into the concerns expressed by denominations, religious organizations and religious leaders, especially after watching Moral and Safe?: War, Peace, Drone Warfare and the Religious Community.

Faith leaders from a wide range of faith traditions are interviewed on this 27 minute video, including representatives of the U.S. States Conference of Catholic Bishops, the United Church of Christ, the New Evangelical Partnership for the Common Good, a rabbi from Interfaith Action for Human Rights, the Unitarian Universalist Association, the United Methodist Church, the American Sikh Council, the Islamic Society of North
America, the Friends Committee on National Legislation and the Church of the Brethren.

A Study Guide accompanies the video.

Faith leaders give their moral and theological perspective on a range of issues: the history of drone warfare, the situation of drone operators, the secrecy of the drone program, “killing one terrorist and creating 10 terrorists”, civilian deaths, the need for international agreements controlling the use of drones and providing real security for the U.S. Those wishing to learn more about the victims of drone warfare in targeted countries and drone operators should watch Unmanned: America’s Drone Wars, Drone, or National Bird.
